WHAT HAPPENS IN VEGAS:

A man in Las Vegas climbed onto the wing of an Alaska Airlines plane set to depart from McCarran International Airport. A number of videos posted on social media, show the man walking on the wing of the airplane and then attempting to climb the vertical winglet.

The incident occurred on Saturday afternoon around 1:30pm local time.

Flight 1367 from Las Vegas to Portland was preparing for takeoff from McCarran when the pilot noticed a person coming toward the aircraft and notified the control tower, Alaska Airlines said in a statement.

The unidentified man, removed his socks and shoes as he tries to climb up the winglet of the Boeing 737 plane.

Police officers are seen both on the ground and then on the wing of the plane trying to reach the man, who suddenly slips on the winglet and crashes down on the tarmac, as officers rush over.

According to KSNV, officers initially reported to the scene after a man jumped over a perimeter fence at the airport.

The man, is believed to potentially suffer from mental illness, though there is also a possibility he was impaired.
