TORONTO’S LOSS IS SAN FRANCISCO’S GAIN

Scott Beck

Scott Beck leaving his post as President and CEO of Destination Toronto and heading south to take over a similar role with the San Francisco Travel Association. The move takes effect Oct. 28.

Beck joined Destination Toronto in 2019 to lead the sales and marketing efforts for Canada’s most visited destination and North America’s fourth-largest city, overseeing an annual operating budget of US$28 million and working in support of Toronto’s US$7.6 billion visitor economy.

As President and CEO of San Francisco Travel, he will oversee one of the US’s largest membership-based tourism promotion organizations with a current annual budget of US$33 million that help drive US$8 billion in tourism spending.

Before joining Destination Toronto, Beck served as President and CEO of Visit Salt Lake for 14 years and had several positions in the hotel industry. He also served on the Board of Directors for the US Travel Association.

Destination Toronto Chair of the Board of Directors Rekha Khote announced Beck’s departure with “regret,” stating, “We will miss Scott’s wonderful enthusiasm for our city and community. Since arriving here almost four years ago, he has been a passionate and dedicated advocate for Toronto and growing the city’s visitor economy.”

In the coming month, Destination Toronto says it will work closely with Beck to ensure a smooth transition and to find a new CEO for the organization.
