THE DOMINICAN REPUBLIC TO STREAMLINE TRAVEL PROCESS

Punta Cana Airport

Starting November 29, the Dominican Republic will implement a new online entry and exit form that will have to be completed by travellers to the country. The electronic form is a modern initiative, designed to improve the efficiency of immigration, customs and public health processes. The new process will improve the experience of international and Dominican passengers entering and leaving the country.

The agreement was signed last Thursday in collaboration between the Ministry of Tourism, Public Health and the Customs and Immigration services.

“The implementation of a one digital registration form to enter and leave the country is the result of the collaboration between different government entities to help streamline the immigration procedure, condensing three forms into one and using contactless technology. It also allows the Dominican authorities to have real-time information on the arrivals and departures of passengers to our country,” said the Minister of Tourism, David Collado.

The agreement was signed by Collado, Plutarco Arias, Minister of Public Health and the Director of Customs, Eduardo Sanz Lovatón and Director of Immigration, Enrique García.

The digital forms will include:

• International boarding and disembarking card.
• Customs declaration form.
• Affidavit of health of the traveller.

Travellers can use either paper or digital forms until 01 January 2021, after which date only the digital form will be used as a means of capturing information.

The form is accessed through the following link: https://eticket.migracion.gob.do/ and must be completed before going through Immigration.

Once completed, the generated QR code will be scanned by the authorities at the port of entry. The form can be filled out at any time, from the purchase of an air ticket to before going through Immigration. Dominican airports offer free internet access so that passengers who do not fill it out before flying can do so when they arrive in the country.

The Ministry of Tourism is committed to informing public and private entities within and outside the Dominican Republic about this new form and has created a travellers’ page with a video tutorial on how to complete the form, as well as a list of frequently asked questions: https://viajerodigital.mitur.gob.do/.

Between November 29, 2020 and January 1, 2021, the Dominican authorities will accept the two forms of registration to enter the country: the current paper form, and the new digital form. As of January 2021, the physical form can no longer be used: the online form will be mandatory and the only form accepted.
