SUMMIT SETS SIGHTS ON GLOBAL RECOVERY

The World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) 20th Global Summit will now take place in April – one month later than the originally planned date – however, its activist agenda to “accelerate the sector’s recovery” has not been changed.

“The Travel & Tourism sector has been devasted by the COVID-19 pandemic, with more than 174 million jobs impacted, making our Global Summit more relevant and important than ever,” says WTTC president and CEO, Gloria Guevara, who adds, “(It) is the most important global platform for leaders of the sector to set the path forward (and) share the future of travel with the world…”

To be held April 25-27, the Summit is being organized in partnership with the Government of Quintana Roo in Mexico and will be held in Cancun. It will attract public and private sector leaders and provide a platform for high-level industry leaders to meet with key government executives to act on the biggest and most important issues across the global agenda.

The decision to move the event from March into April was designed to coincide with the relaxation of travel restrictions in many global jurisdictions and expected start of the sector’s recovery, thereby enabling more international participants to take part.

The event will take place in a hybrid format, allowing those unable to travel to benefit from the content virtually.
