INDUSTRY VETERAN KAREN EVANS TO RETIRE

Discover the World has announced the retirement in March of Karen Evans after 30 years at the company. She will be succeeded in her role as National Sales Manager for SATA Azores Airlines by her colleague Andrea Thornton, who has worked alongside Evans for many years.

Evan’s first role in the industry was with Wardair in 1989 where she started in customer service and quickly progressed to the commercial team, before moving on to Canadian Airlines in 1991 as sales manager.

In March of 1994 she was lured to Discover the World by Joanne Lundy, the long-term owner of the company, where she represented several of the Toronto-based company’s top clients, including, over the years, BMI, LOT Polish Airlines and more recently with SATA.

Evans’ efforts included working on marketing projects, sponsored events, and golf tournaments on behalf of Star Alliance while representing LOT.

Says Discover the World: “Karen is perhaps best known for her passionate (and often note-free) delivery of captivating presentations of the products and services of her clients. In the case of SATA, she would have you booking a ticket to the Azores within a few minutes of her description of this unique and very special destination. Please join us in wishing Karen the very best for this very special next chapter.”
