HERE’S HOW QUICKLY COVID CAN STILL SPOIL A CRUISE

Cruises from Singapore are in a sling. An outbreak in the Asian city has ships limited to 25 per cent capacity and serving take-out only in restaurants and bars. We keep hoping the return to cruising is going to be smooth sailing, but it shows how quickly the evolving pandemic can still unexpectedly crash a party.

Everyone was hailing Singapore as a place that had weathered the global crisis in award-winning fashion. Suddenly, Singapore is seeing an uptick of cases and has gone to Phase 2 heightened alert COVID-19 restrictions that will remain in effect until at least Aug. 18.

And with that, Royal Caribbean International’s Quantum of the Seas and Dream Cruises‘ World Dream sailing round-trips from Singapore are immediately limiting their occupancy to only 25 per cent of their maximum passenger capacity, telling some potential passengers they’ll have to book on a later cruise.
