Princess Cruises is looking ahead while honoring the past with Sun Princess, the first ship in a new Sphere Class, which will be the largest the line has ever built. The name goes back to the first Sun Princess– where The Love Boat TV show was filmed –that sailed from 1974 to 1988. A second Sun Princess sailed from 1995 until 2020.
The Sphere name comes from the rounded feel of its three-deck Piazza atrium and an innovative geodesic dome that crowns the ship. The Dome is a multi-level glass enclosed deck with indoor-outdoor pool and water features. At night, the pool will become a stage with a South Beach vibe the ability to host aerial performances.
