GOWAY NEVER FORGETS: Elephant-naming contest offers FAM spot

Goway Travel has an elephant to name and is asking for help from its agent partners, who could win a coveted spot on a Kenya FAM in November to meet the elephant they named.

To qualify, agents must book and deposit any Goway Africa trip between July 18 and Aug. 15, 2022. Eligible agents will then receive an email with an invitation to suggest a name for Goway’s elephant. If the name is chosen, the agent will earn a free spot on the FAM.

The incentive/contest – open to agents in both Canada and the US – is part of Goway’s ongoing commitment to conservation, in which the Toronto-based tour operator will sponsor a young elephant in partnership with Kenya Wildlife Service in 2022.

Up to five additional agents who entered will also have the opportunity to book a spot on the FAM at a discounted price. The FAM itinerary includes the Masai Mara, Amboseli National Park, Tsavo West National Park, and Nairobi.

Club Med VP of Africa and Asia Moira Smith calls Kenya a “conservation success story” that hosts an estimated 10% of the world’s African elephants.

“Preserving them, however, is an ongoing task requiring commitment, resources, and momentum, (which) includes combating poaching, minimizing human-elephant conflict, and slowing the effects of climate change,” she says, noting that the country takes a multi-pronged approach to conservation, in which education, community outreach, and tourism all play key parts.

“Goway,” she says, “is committed to doing their part for Kenya’s conservation effort – and is delighted to invite their agent partners to join them.”
