CURIOUS ABOUT CURACAO: Sandals unveils new resort

With bookings now open and a grand opening offer available through Nov. 2, Sandals has unveiled details for its newest resort, Sandals Royal Curaçao, the all-inclusive brand’s 16th property scheduled to open April 14, 2022.

Situated on 18 hectares within the Santa Barbara private estate, an exclusive 1,200-hectare protected preserve, the resort is designed to “authentically intertwine natural world wonders – desert, ocean, mountains, and shoreline – with the resort experience.”

Couples will also be able to explore the geographic diversity of Curaçao, known for its pristine beaches, limestone caves and capital city Willemstad, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Located 24 km from the airport, Sandals Royal Curaçao will have 351 rooms and suites in 24 room categories, including two new signature suite categories, the Awa Seaside Butler Bungalows and Kurason Island Poolside Butler Bungalows, complete with Tranquility Soaking Tubs, private pools, butler service, and complimentary convertible MINI Coopers for guests to drive while exploring the island.

Other resort amenities include:

• The brand’s first Dos Awa infinity pool with views overlooking the sea and the rugged mountain landscape

• The Duchess will be Sandals’ first-ever floating restaurant and bar, constructed from a 28 m. authentic Dutch ship

• Nine on-site 5-Star Global Gourmet restaurants (eight of which are new and exclusive to Sandals Royal Curaçao), plus an authentic wine and Dutch cheese bar

• Three beachside gourmet food trucks offering traditional Curaçao fare, Spanish tapas, and Asian fusion,

• 10 bars

• Three oceanfront wedding venues

• Red Lane Spa with six outdoor spa cabanas and treatment rooms

• Access to the neighbouring 18-hole Pete Dye championship golf course

• Two on-site marinas

• Facing west, guests will be in prime position to view sunset.

Sandals Resort International executive chairman, Adam Stewart, says that apart from the new destination, the sheer size of the private preserve surrounding Sandals Royal Curaçao will allow guests to bike, hike, or pick up a picnic basket for a day out.

“And they can continue this adventurous spirit beyond our gates where they will find a world-class destination of great restaurants, fascinating locals, fine art, and visitors from all over the world,” he says.
