COVER UP: Masks on planes will stay awhile

Aviation experts in the UK are warning that, flyers, frequent and otherwise, can expect to keep their masks on for the foreseeable future. They believe mask wearing will continue until there is “international consistency.”

Carriers are reportedly reluctant to unilaterally end the policy anytime soon.

The London Times reported a source as saying, “Until there is a harmonised lifting of mask mandates on flights by governments worldwide it is simpler for airlines to keep the rules in place.”

Ryanair is not planning a change to its mandatory mask policy. CFO Neil Sorahan said, “Masks will be something that will be with us for a while longer to come. If that is the price we have to pay for the next few months, into summer — it’s a small price to pay.”

In the US there is a federal mask mandate and a zero tolerance policy imposing it by the FAA.
