ARMCHAIR TRAVELLER:Christmas in Germany, one day at a time

Waiting for Christmas can make December seem infinitely long – especially to kids (some adults too!). To help make the wait a bit easier, German tradition sees an advent calendar placed in almost every home, each containing 24 small surprises – one for each day until the Christkind, Germany’s traditional gift bringer, arrives.

This year, the German National Tourist Board is highlighting an online advent calendar that enables users to discover an interesting or fun facts about Germany and its Christmas traditions throughout the month leading up to Christmas Day.

We won’t spoil the surprises (yes, we cheated and looked at them all), but info ranges from food to traditions and trends, amongst other interesting tidbits.

You can check out it all at once (like we did), or the proper way – one day at time – HERE.
