Transport Canada is getting ready to announce an end to its cruise ban soon, but it might not take effect until early 2022, according to Andrew Dixon, chair of the Association of Canadian Port Authorities’ Cruise Committee.
‘The time is right’ he told industry journal Seatrade Cruise News. ‘The Canadian government, Transport Canada and Public Health have been responsible about the health and welfare of Canadians, and they are listening to our message now.”
Even though there is typically no cruising in Canadian waters until April, Dixon said it‘s essential to announce a 2022 reopening now instead of waiting until the current ban expires at the end of February 2022.
