WestJet’s inaugural flight between Toronto and Roatán took place on December 15. The airline is offering seasonal, non-stop service to Roatán, Honduras weekly, on Sundays on Boeing 737 aircraft.
Flights are timed to optimize connectivity to WestJet’s Toronto hub and provide for WestJet Rewards accumulation and redemption along with additional benefits for WestJet Rewards top tier members.
Arved vonzur Muelhen, WestJet chief commercial officer said, “These flights strengthen tourism ties and are a win for leisure travellers looking to explore Roatán’s beautiful barrier reefs and white sand beaches.”
“In the last five years, there has been a 60 percent increase in the number of Canadians travelling to Roatán,” said Alexander Leon, Trade Commissioner, Canadian Embassy for Costa Rica, Honduras and Nicaragua. “Tourism is one of the sectors that most directly and positively affects the well-being of people of the local community.”
