WANDERLUST A MUST FOR FLORIDA FANS

Where better to get a feeling for Florida than staring at a Canadian weather report? With this in mind, VISIT FLORIDA has again teamed with The Weather Network to inspire winter-weary Canadians to visit the Sunshine State with a second season of “Wanderlust Florida,” the unique docuseries that was viewed 11.7 million times on broadcast alone the first time around (a year ago).

Season 1 of the unique docuseries proved such a success that it outperformed estimates by 79%.

The docuseries was phase two of a larger multifaceted campaign that included digital, social, broadcasts and contests, and reached more than 42 million consumers.

As one of The Weather Network’s most-watched programs, a second season was a natural fit to continue to shine a light on Florida’s off-the-beaten-path destinations and hidden gems as told by local Floridians, according to the tourist board.

“Canada continues to be a very important market for Florida,” said Dana Young, President & CEO of VISIT FLORIDA. “Through the expansion of our Wanderlust: Florida docuseries, we have the opportunity to continue educating Canadians on Florida’s diverse experiences to keep them coming back year after year.”

The second season, which will consist of two 18-minute-long episodes, launched on Sunday, taking viewers on a scenic road trip through Northwest Florida with stops in Tallahassee, Panama City Beach, South Walton, and Pensacola.

“Season 1 of Wanderlust: Florida was our first-ever episodic docuseries that allowed us to provide our Weather Network viewers with a virtual escape to Florida,” noted Sam Sebastian, CEO of Pelmorex Corp. (The Weather Network), who added, “I’m excited that… we have the opportunity to continue to provide our viewers with new virtual escapes of the hidden gems and unique adventures that Florida has to offer.”

At the same time, The Weather Network’s website touts “the Florida you don’t know” on a dedicated page that also provides a book-now link (to Expedia).

Tune in to The Weather Network for rebroadcasts (Sundays at 10 p.m. EST) and other episodes on YouTube.
