TRAVELBRANDS CHARITY GOLF CLASSIC SURPASSES GOAL

TravelBrands CEO Natalie Tanious

More than a hundred golfers turned out last Thursday to help TravelBrands raise funds for The Hospital for Sick Children at the company’s 9th Annual Charity Golf Classic, held just north of Toronto. The picture-perfect day at Eagles Nest Golf Club was eclipsed only by the $308,000 raised at the event – funds earmarked for the SickKids Foundation to help fuel vital research, clinical care, and new initiatives at the hospital.

The event saw an incredible turnout of suppliers, partners, agents, and employees, prompting Nathalie Tanious, President & CEO of H.I.S. Canada Travel Inc., parent company of TravelBrands, to observe: “Our annual golf classic is more than just a game; it’s a powerful example of what we can achieve when our community comes together for a cause as important as SickKids.”

The point was accentuated through the moving presentation of the mother of a now four-year-old boy whose life was saved at the hospital, her speech leaving many in the room in tears.

On the course, golfers were treated to a host of activations by TravelBrand partners, including an Oyster Bar, Caesar Bar, food trucks, Rum Tasting, the VANGO VW Van photo booth, and a variety of contests with prizes, ranging from gift cards to a 55-inch TV and trip to Bermuda.

The Big Cheque for SickKids

As always, dinner was preceded by the now signature helicopter ball drop, offering another trip prize.

By surpassing its goal of $300,000 – much of it raised through the event’s silent auction, plus an impromptu in-room auction aided by spontaneous prize offers from the likes of WestJet, Transat, Delta Air Lines, and HIS (a trip to Japan), the event proved to be one of the most successful efforts to date and TravelBrands vowed to remain committed to building on the momentum and reaching even greater milestones in the years to come.

Beyond the annual Charity Golf Classic, TravelBrands demonstrates its commitment to the SickKids Foundation through various charitable initiatives, including a “Team Raise-A-Thon” and SickKids Day, where 1% of all sales are generously contributed to the foundation.
