Here’s a word of caution for those eager to be among the first to sail aboard one of the many new expedition ships being built by a number of cruise lines. Timetables for delivery are about as firm as the tip of melting glacier.
One long-anticipated ship is in limbo. An addition to the SeaDream Yacht Club fleet, the SeaDream Innovation, was scheduled to be delivered in September, 2021 by Damen shipyards in the Netherlands. The line was promising a world-circling itinerary for the 220-guest ship. Instead, SeaDream and the shipyard have agreed to annul the contract.
