05 JUL 2019: With summer in mind – and glass in hand – we at Travel Industry Today, continue our seasonal series on some of the planet’s best bars, patios and rooftop venues to enjoy during the (hopefully good) weather.
Vancouver in summer/sunshine needs no introduction. And there are few places better to enjoy the city’s west coast vibe than Cardero’s, located on the water in Coal Harbour (1583 Coal Harbour Quay), beside the Westin Bayshore hotel and a stone’s throw from the Stanley Park sea wall.
My go-to place in the city, the restaurant-pub is great any time of year, boasting a cozy, but lively ambiance (and fireplaces in winter). But the place is positively profound with the sun shining for its stunning views of Burrard Inlet and the mountains beyond, and neighbouring marina, from the year-round patio.
An upscale menu features fresh seafood and wood oven pizzas, as well as BC wines and a diverse beer selection. There’s also music – evenings after 8:30 p.m. and 3 to 6 on weekends.
And dare we mention “happy hour,” weekdays from 3 to 6 p.m., featuring pub snacks for under $10 and pints of Stanley Park beer, house wine and highball drinks for $5?
No, no need to mention it – because every hour is a happy hour at Cardero’s.
