The British government has proposed new rules which could see more airline passengers eligible for flight disruption compensation. It proposes scrapping the current minimum of a partial refund three hours for domestic flights, shortening that time to a partial refund after just a one-hour delay.
The Civil Aviation Authority, would also have broader authority to issue fines to airlines for breaches. The Department for Transport said that the new framework would be a fairer system.
Under EU rules, passengers are entitled to £220 ($376) or more after a three-hour delay.
The government now plans a consultation period with airlines.
