Cruise travel is facing a significant challenge in public opinion and travel agents will play a central role in regaining trust in cruising, according to a new survey by travel and hospitality marketing agency MMGY Global.
In partnership with US Travel, The Travel Intentions Pulse Survey went out to 1,200 US residents who have taken an overnight trip for either business or leisure in the past 12 months. MMGY found that travelers over the next six months would feel more confident staying in a hotel or resort (3.14 on a 5-point scale) than they would attending a live concert (2.36 on that same scale), attending a live sporting event (2.34), or attending a live theater performance (2.30), though the majority still say they do not feel safe outside of their homes.
