Christmas is a feeling. A remembrance and anticipation in equal measure: in Germany, this feeling is celebrated for a period of over four weeks: The Advent season is full of traditions and customs passed down through generations. People bake cookies, make straw stars and, just like in the days of old, sing songs of peace and joy by candlelight. In a welcome change to busy lifestyles during the rest of the year, people now take time to relax and enjoy the sense of calm the season offers.

Advent begins this year on Sunday 27th November and ends on Saturday 24th December – Christmas Eve. The days are short and the evenings are long – plenty of time to enjoy the wonderful traditions from all regions of the country.

A visit to Germany during the Christmas season provides an amazing experience and a lifetime of memories.
