CANADA JETLINES SETS SIGHTS ON EUROPE, JAMAICA

Canada Jetlines says it is on schedule to add another aircraft that will allow it to fly to Europe next summer, but not before it operates “numerous charters” to Greenland this summer.

In an update of “key operating metrics” to shareholders, the airline cited strong demand for its services in Q2 with a high utilization rate – 265% over Q1 – for its fleet of two Airbus 320 aircraft. The company forecasts to have operated 1,518 block hours in the second quarter which will end on June 30.

It also says its third aircraft is on schedule to be delivered by the end of July.

Additionally, the company says it has recently obtained its foreign Air Operator certificate from the Jamaican government and that Transport Canada has added North Atlantic operations to its certificate, which will allow it to operate charter flights to Greenland this summer.

The airline says it is also in the process of obtaining its European Third Country Operator (TCO) certificate, which is expected to be completed in Q3, thereby “allowing the Company to bid on wet-lease contracts for the busy European summer season next year.”

“We are very pleased with this significant growth in flying hours and high aircraft utilization. We continue to see strong demand and very positive reception in the industry for the quality of the service we provide,” said airline president and CEO Eddy Doyle President and CEO Canada Jetlines.
