Canada Jetlines says it is a step closer to being able to offer service to the US, having received economic authority to serve the US for the US Department of Transportation. Final approvals expected to be received before the end of the year.
In its application to the DOT in September, the airline said it is initially considering service to Sarasota and Melbourne, Fla.
“We are looking forward to expand our international network, as the US is a top market for Canadian travellers,” stated Eddy Doyle, President & CEO Canada Jetlines. “With the winter months fast approaching, we know sun destinations will be a priority for leisure travel and we intend to announce our first international destination later this month.”
The announcement follows Canada Jetlines’ confirmation of a new route out of its travel hub at Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) with direct service to Vancouver International Airport (YVR), starting December. The new route will operate twice weekly with frequency increasing before the new year.
This upcoming Vancouver service will complement the airlines operations of biweekly flights, operating Thursdays, and Sundays between Toronto (YYZ) and Calgary.
