BOOZE IS BACK: Delta Airlines is reintroducing liquor on some domestic flights

The tension, the frustration, the stress. The feelings of anxiety at being unsocially distanced with a bunch of equally anxious heavy breathers – even if they do wear masks. It’s a long time to go without a drink, in these troubled times – so Delta will once again serve select beers and wines on flights of more than 500 miles.

The airline says it is bringing it back the service due to customer feedback and has worked with health professionals to ensure safety and hygiene.

Delta will now offer single-serve red and white wine, Heineken, Miller Lite, SweetWater 420 and SweetWater IPA.

Drinks will be served in cans and single-serve bottles using serving trays to minimize physical touching.

“Our goal is to serve all of our food and beverage offerings in the safest way possible – both for our customers and employees,” said Allison Ausband, Delta’s SVP of in-flight service.

“We take pride in always listening to our customers, and we know beer and wine are the adult beverages our customers want most.

This is the first step towards what Delta hopes will (someday) be a normalized in-flight service.

Complimentary beer, wine and cocktails remain available in all cabins on long-haul international routes.
