BOND IS BACKIN DA JAMAICA!

Daniel Craig as James Bond on location in Jamaica

“Where’s 007?” M asks in a trailer for the new James Bond film “No Time To Die,” set to open Oct. 8. “In da Jamaica,” comes the reply, setting the scene for a return of the famous British secret agent to his “spiritual home.”

To celebrate the release of the milestone 25th instalment of the epic Bond series – as well as being chosen as an important setting in the movie, which was in part filmed there – the Jamaica Tourist Board (JTB) has released exclusive behind-the-scenes footage showcasing cast and crew, including star Daniel Craig, as well as some of the locations shot around the island.

It’s the third time that 007 has appeared in Jamaica, though this time the famed British government agent has left active service and is enjoying a tranquil life – until things go sideways (as they tend to do for him).

For over 60 years, Jamaica has been synonymous with James Bond, not least because author Ian Fleming created and wrote his spy novels there. The island also featured in the first James Bond film, “Dr. No” (1962), as well as in “Live and Let Die” (1973).

Indeed, Bond’s legacy lingers around the island at film locations such as Laughing Waters Beach, where Honey Ryder famously emerged from the water to Sean Connery’s Bond in “Dr. No,” the breeding farm where Roger Moore hopscotched across the backs of crocodiles in “Live and Let Die,” but mostly GoldenEye, former home of Ian Fleming, which is now a resort (and also used in the current flick).

In “No Time To Die,” Bond finds himself in, amongst other locales, on a sail boat on the coast and on dry land in Port Antonio – images that will be beamed around the world when the film opens, thereby boosting the profile of the island as a tourist destination, and also no doubt adding new possibilities for visitor following Jamaica’s James Bond tourism trail in the future.
