The Association of Canadian Independent Travel Advisors are decidedly happy. “We are pumped,” founder Judith Coates said in an email, “because it was very evident that our voices are being heard!” Coates said she “wanted to share that this has been an awesome week for all travel advisors!”
And the reason for the excitement – on Tuesday March 09, Members of the Opposition tabled a Motion in the House of Commons, entitled: “Measures to Support Canadian Workers re Tourism, & Loans to Airlines”
Nine different Members of Parliament spoke about Travel Advisors in their comments during the discussion and debate that ensued.
“These were all MP’s that we’ve had Zoom meetings with,” said Coates, “we are thrilled that they have been listening (after meeting with more than 170 MP’s).”
On Wednesday the Motion was passed 183-159.
“We think that this will be the huge push that the Liberals need to get on with the Bailout Agreements,” said Coates, “and we know that the Opposition parties will keep them accountable.”
Coates has compiled a video of “snippets” from each of the MP’s comments which she made has available and thanks the MP’s for including Independent Travel Advisors in their comments during the discussion and debate that ensued:
