ACTA has released details about some of the speakers and professional development topics at its upcoming September summits – Sept. 14 in Toronto, Sept. 20 in Richmond, BC, and Sept. 28, in Laval, Que.
Among the highlights of events, which are designed to “explore new trends, opportunities, and actions for travel agencies and travel agents to build back better,” are:
• Keynote speaker Bruce Poon Tip, CEO of G Adventures and a global leader in social entrepreneurship, immersive travel, innovation, and executive producer of the 2022 documentary film “The Last Tourist,” will explore travel as a force of change. Passionate about the power of travel to change the world for the better, Poon Tip will examine important issues facing travel and tourism and empower the audience to appeal to a new kind of traveller and be inspired to sell new niches to existing clients looking to travel better. • Rebuilding the Canadian Travel Industry – Together! An interactive discussion on how to build the Canadian travel industry back better. Leaders from some of Canada’s best-known travel companies will discuss the challenges and potential solutions facing travel agents and tour operators, and how agents can work together to build a stronger and more successful travel industry. (Toronto, Montreal & Vancouver)
• Louise Gardiner, CTM, ACTA Board treasurer and VP of the Agency Solution by The Travel Agent Next Door will lead a panel of professional travel agents to explore how they survived the pandemic, revamped their business and are now thriving. Travel agent colleagues from across Canada will share how they survived the worst of the pandemic and revamped their business to thrive in our new normal. (Toronto & Vancouver).
• Ryan McElroy, CEO of Travel Agency Tribes will present an interactive session discussing modern technology tools that drive sales, efficiency, and customer engagement. By taking advantage of new and easy-to-use technology tools, attendees can reimagine and redesign how they connect, consult, and deliver travel services. In this session, attendees will learn about new technologies, techniques, and easily executable tactics. (Toronto & Vancouver)
• “Power of Specialization: Work less, Earn more” is a panel discussion sharing the secrets of focusing attention on high-yield clients and travel products. (Toronto, Montreal, and Vancouver)
The summits are complimentary for ACTA members. Non-member travel agents are asked to consider making a contribution to ACTA’s Advocacy Fund. Registration includes access to the full-day Summit and trade show, with plated lunch and networking reception with cocktails and hors d’oeuvres.
