Frank Greco, aka The Travel Guy, is usually inspiring other people where to go on his TV shows. Currently grounded like everyone else, Greco is pondering and planning for where the shows will go next when the world re-opens to travel:
“I guess I can say that I have travelled and have seen more than my share of this world, yet I have not seen much! I operate TGTV Inc. in Toronto and we produce two television series: one is a travel show and the other is a cooking show.
The shows – “The Travel Guy” and “Gourmet Escapes” – promote tourism to specific destinations, the local culture and cuisines. This is accomplished through the local people we feature on each episode. Canadian celebrity chef Massimo Capra is host of the cooking shows and I personally host the travel episodes.
Before the COVID-19 crises, our team was preparing for our trips abroad to film both series of shows, but the pandemic shut us down like most others around the world.
In the past we’ve been extremely fortunate to see amazing sites, meet extraordinary people and experience cultures around the world, including in such destinations as French Polynesia, the Cook Islands, Fiji, Iceland, Scotland, Ireland, Germany, Cyprus, Israel, the US, and our own Canada.
And this year we were excited about the new adventures to be caught on film for the new season of both series, which are broadcast on Canadian and international networks and a few prominent airlines.
But until the pandemic is under control and we can travel again, we will use the time to continue to research and plan new methods of filming (such as incorporating drones), since we need to capture the interest of the viewers and see if they will visit the destination and enjoy it as much as we do.
So, where do I want to go when this is over? I want to see the world again. What is my favourite place? That’s simple: the next one I visit. And the next one after that, and the next one after that…”
