The world’s second Sphere will be built in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates following the opening of the first in Las Vegas. The attraction will be located in a prime spot in the city and echo the scale of the Sphere in the US and is expected to be a major year-round draw for both residents and visitors from around the world.
James L. Dolan, Executive Chairman and CEO Sphere Entertainment says the plan has always been to have a global network of venues, adding that the announcement of Abu Dhabi is a significant milestone toward that goal.
The massive $2.3-billion Las Vegas Sphere opened in 2023 as the gambling capital’s most expensive entertainment venue. A high-resolution LED screen wraps halfway around the 17,500-seat audience. It has hosted concerts, including residencies by U2 and the Eagles, and sporting events.
In 2023, Abu Dhabi welcomed more than 24 million visitors in 2023.
