The St. Kitts Tourism Authority recently hosted the fifth instalment of its culinary event, “Savour St. Kitts”, designed to help travel advisors learn more about the destination’s diverse culinary experiences. The interactive event, held this year at Capra’s Kitchen in Port Credit, Ont., was at maximum capacity as agents crowded in to have their chance to cook Kittitian inspired dishes, side-by-side with celebrity chef, Massimo Capra.
“St. Kitts is really emerging as a foodie hotspot right now because there is this incredible array of immersive culinary experiences on offer,” said Paul Minich, representative for the St. Kitts Tourism Authority in Canada. “Today’s traveller wants to explore beyond their resort and dive into the local flavours and dining experiences they can have. St. Kitts is a hidden gem in this regard and people are truly amazed when they arrive and quickly discover the diverse food culture there.”
During the event Chef Capra led six interactive cooking stations where the agents prepared St. Kitts inspired dishes, including oxtail potato gnocci, fresh seafood salad and a spiced chicken dish.
To help Canadians discover its extensive culinary offerings, St. Kitts created the Savour St. Kitts guide as a print and digital resource that celebrates the island’s vibrant epicurean scene. From the best venues for enjoying gourmet fare and authentic local food, to the ultimate sundowner cocktail bars and beachside experiences, and of course, where to sip and savour the island’s finest rums, the guide is a trusted resource for agents in helping them guide their clients who are seeking food and dining advice.
“It really touches on everything a food lover needs to know to savour the island,” said Minich.
