EXPANDED AIR AGREEMENT OPENS DOWNUNDER DOOR

Canada has announced an expanded its air transport agreement with Australia that will allow an unlimited number of direct passenger and cargo flights and enhances operational flexibility for each country’s airlines. It also includes access to any point in the other country’s territory.

The new terms mark a significant expansion of the agreement that is expected to meet long- term needs, says Transport Canada.

Transport minister Anita Anaund said, “This expanded air transport agreement will improve connectivity for passengers, deepen our cultural and commercial ties, and strengthen our supply chains. This is great news for travellers and businesses in both our countries.”

In 2023, Australia was Canada’s 18th largest air travel market, with 534,075 one-way passenger trips.

Canada has air transport agreements or arrangements covering more than 125 countries.
