NEW PRESIDENT AT ONTARIO TOURISM, ANDREW SIEGWART

The Tourism Industry Association of Ontario (TIAO) has announced the appointment of Andrew Siegwart as its new President & CEO, effective Jan. 21. In his new role, Siegwart will guide the organization in promoting and advancing Ontario’s tourism industry while ensuring its growth, sustainability, and alignment with important societal goals.

In his eight years as President and CEO of the Blue Mountain Village Association (BMVA), Siegwart built stakeholder coalitions, strengthened government relationships, and raised the organization’s public profile. TIAO notes that under his leadership, BMVA achieved significant milestones, including increased member engagement, award-winning destination marketing programs, financial sustainability, and regional economic development.

Previously, Siegwart held the post of Sr. VP at the Retail Council of Canada (RCC), leading critical business units and specialized teams, including events, education, sponsorship, communications, membership, research, and program development. His advocacy efforts, particularly in addressing key issues such as labour supply and workforce development.

“Andrew’s leadership, advocacy skills, and commitment to community development make him the ideal choice to lead our organization forward,” said Rebecca Mackenzie, Chair of the TIAO Board of Directors. “Tourism will continue to be a vital economic and social driver for Ontario and TIAO will provide thoughtful leadership to ensure the industry is well positioned to maximize the opportunity.”

Siegwart brings a strong commitment to aligning with and championing the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s 94 Calls to Action and applying them to the tourism industry.
