The travel industry has been through a lot in the past three years, says ACTA – from working overtime with no guarantee of outcome due to pandemic restrictions, to political unrest, severe weather, infrastructure issues, mass schedule changes, cancellations, and more.
Many travel advisors, the association notes, have had to put personal finances on the line and “have seen a career and industry they love deeply in distress.”
“It’s no wonder,” ACTA declares, that some travel advisors are feeling “stressed, overwhelmed, and burnt out.”
To that end, ACTA is planning a series of events in May to support travel advisors while celebrating Travel Agent Day on May 3. Better still, there are prizes to be won.
Health & Wellness session
On May 3 from 3 to 4 p.m. EDT, ACTA is inviting agents to take part in a session with trained trauma expert and educator Dr. Erin Watson, who has over 20 year’s experience developing and leading psycho-educational programs to support mental, emotional, and inter-personal health of individuals, families, and communities.
The online session will explore how to start resolving and recovering from the stress incurred through the unprecedented challenges of the past three years with practical advice on how to work through the collective trauma, how to practice sustainable self-care without feeling selfish or compromising work, how to eliminate overwhelm, and how to re-engage with a job you love and find fulfillment and joy again.
Those who participate will be eligible for the Travel Agent Day grand prize: a four-night stay for two at the new Sandals Dunn’s River Resort, Jamaica courtesy of Sandals Resorts including air for two courtesy of Air Canada.

Business Building Workshop
Meanwhile, on May 9, 10 and 11 (2-3 p.m. EDT each day), ACTA, in partnership with the Jamaica Tourist Board, will offer three one-hour online sessions with travel industry expert and TV Host Sandra McLemore, designed to help lay the groundwork for sustainable business success, including topics such as de-cluttering your business space to make room for revenue-generating activities; smart prospecting and client retention strategies; and productive lead generation and business building success.
Those who register and participate in the Business Building Workshops on will be eligible to win a $250 Visa gift card and a $250 VIA Rail travel voucher.

All travel agents are welcome to attend the sessions as part of Travel Agent Day celebrations, however non-ACTA members are asked to consider joining the association or making a contribution to ACTA’s advocacy fund.
