ED DAY: Popular industry figure dies suddenly

25 JUN 2019: The Canadian travel industry is still in shock after learning of the sudden death on the weekend of Ed Day. A district sales rep for Disney Parks and Resorts based in Toronto for the past three years, Day started in the industry at Jade Tours in 2003 and later held positions with Park N Fly and SeaWorld Canada.

Friends and colleagues were “shocked,” “devastated,” and “heartbroken.” A popular figure on the trade show circuit, the gregarious Day was also known as kind, considerate, a devoted father and friend, and “the life of the party.”

Disney Canada sales and marketing manager Hayden Yates told Travel Industry Today that Day was a “valued employee” who would be hugely missed and that the office was rocked by the news.

Funeral and viewing arrangements have not been released, however industry friends are planning to celebrate Ed’s life at his favourite pub, Grace O’Malleys in Toronto, when his favourite band, Signal Hill, next perform. Ed Day was 49.
