When will we be able to relax on a cruise ship as simply as we did pre-pandemic? No one wants to wear masks when sunning around the pool or between bites in a restaurant. Ships were built as floating communities for shared happy activity, not cautious social distancing.
Cruise lines are trying to deep-six the masks and get back to the good old days and are making headway toward a comfortable near-normal, but there’s still a fair amount of choppiness as ships start sailing after all too long at anchor.
A growing number of cruise lines are making full vaccination mandatory for guests as well as crew to ensure COVID won’t spoil a trip. But they face dilemmas, like the state of Florida’s law that businesses can’t be compelled to prove they’ve had their shots.
