The Swiss Travel System (STS) has a new e-learning platform designed to turn travel agents into experts on one of the world’s most comprehensive public transports systems.

The quick and easy “Excellence Program” utilizes a pair of virtual guides to ensure that the European nation’s extensive train, bus and boat network is “always at your fingertips,” according to Swiss Travel System market manager for North America Martin Oester.

The program is the only e-learning program worldwide to cover the entire public transport system of a country. In the individual courses, participants learn everything about the characteristics of the Swiss Travel System – from tickets and passes to panoramic trains and luggage transport.

Thanks to the modular structure, learners choose for themselves which content they would like to explore in more detail. On average, a module takes only about six minutes to complete.

In a bid to make sessions fun, learners are accompanied on the journey by Heidi and Peter, two animated characters personifying two important Swiss qualities: reliability and enthusiasm.

After successfully passing the tests, specialists will receive a diploma and may officially call themselves a Swiss Travel System Excellence Expert.

Various incentives, such as souvenir pictures and awards and prizes, are also available for participants several times a year, including the chance to earn a trip to Switzerland – not surprisingly with a Swiss Travel Pass included.
