Carnival Cruise Line has cancelled cruises in the first part of 2021 as it works to meet all the requirements for resuming sailing laid down by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control.
All embarkations from US homeports through Jan. 31 will not happen. And no cruises from Baltimore, Charleston, Jacksonville, Long Beach, Mobile, New Orleans and San Diego will embark until at least Feb. 28, with Carnival Legend out of Tampa delayed until March 26, the company announced in a statement.
Carnival is in the process of building a gradual, phased-in approach to resume guest operations, which will focus initially on Miami and Port Canaveral, to be followed by Galveston, the company said. Carnival Horizon arrives in Miami this week, and Carnival Breeze will be the next ship back to the U.S. In total, 16 Carnival ships are currently following the CDC process for an eventual resumption of guest service in the US in 2021.
