A recent cyberattack at Carnival Corp enabled hackers to access personal information of guests, employees and crew of Carnival Cruise Line, Holland America Line and Seabourn, along with the group’s casino operations.
Carnival said it “acted quickly to shut down the intrusion, restore operations and prevent further unauthorized access.” It contracted a major cybersecurity firm to investigate and notified law enforcement and various regulators. The cruise line says there is a “low likelihood of the data being misused.”
The company is working to identify guests, employees and crew whose personal information may have been compromised and will contact them within the next 30 to 60 days.
Carnival has originally suspected only one cruise brand had been affected in the ransomware attack.
The company has posted information on each of the brands’ websites to inform and assist passengers.
