Intrepid Travel, with almost 1,000 small group adventures across all seven continents, has dropped its ‘Five for 2025 Travel Trend Predications’ for the year ahead. Trips led by women for just women, Gen Z solo adventures, and parents looking to connect with their kids in new ways were just a few that made the list.
“We looked at key patterns across hundreds of thousands of bookings and listened to feedback from travellers from all over the world to identify the top emerging movements as people start planning their vacations for 2025” said Matt Berna, President of the Americas at Intrepid Travel.
This is what they found:
- Women-Only Adventures: All-women group trips are booming. From backcountry hiking in America, to exploring off the beaten in Morocco, adventures led by women for women will be a rising trend for 2025. Intrepid’s Women’s Expeditions, all-female tours led by a local female leader grew by 37% in 2024 and Intrepid’s US hiking partner Wildland Trekking is adding 10-new Women’s Adventure trips for 2025 to keep up with demand.
- ‘Not-Hot’ Destinations: The hunt for the undiscovered will continue as travellers crave cultural immersion over being surrounded by other tourists. Airlines are also responding to this appetite with route expansions to lesser-visited places like Mongolia, Greenland, and Senegal, all three of which places Intrepid is launching new tours to in 2025.
- Friendtrips: Younger generations are embracing group travel. Zillenials are travelling solo, seeking to meet new friends IRL (in real life), and are turning to group travel to make it happen at a record pace. Intrepid’s 18-35 range nearly doubled in growth (up 46% YOY in 2024), to become Intrepid’s third most popular trip style of the year. In 2024, 21 to 30-year-olds also surpassed the largest group of travellers joining Intrepid trips solo for the first time ever.
- Purposeful Parenting: Families are prioritizing connecting and learning from local communities and opportunities for meaningful cultural exchange on trips. Intrepid’s family tours Intrepid’s family trips – designed to balance relaxation with hands-on experiences – grew another 20% in 2024 globally on top of a record 2023 for the style.
- Back on Track: The rail renaissance continues, with travellers opting to experience destinations at a relaxed pace, while travelling in a more environmentally conscious way. Intrepid added 3-new rail trips and has extended over 50 of its tours by a day for 2025 for a longer, slower way to go.
