Holland America Line President Orlando Ashford and Seabourn Cruises President Rick Meadows announced almost simultaneously on Tuesday that they’re leaving at the end of May. Both lines recently extended the layups of their fleets due to the pandemic emergency.

Ashford led HAL for more than five years, joining the cruise industry from human resources management and leading a revolution in entertainment across the fleet by introducing live music venues including BB King’s Blues Clubs and Live from Lincoln Center concerts, as well as transforming the culinary programs.

Last fall, Ashford had to take on expanded responsibility, becoming responsible for the 14-ship line’s sales and marketing after a management restructuring. Holland America has extended its pause in operations until late August and cancelled all Alaska, Europe and Canada/New England cruises for 2020.
