A residential cruise tour operator is offering disgruntled American voters facing four more years of Donald Trump a chance to continuously sail around the world and “skip forward” to the end of his administration in 2028. Starting at just under US$40,000, Villa Vie Residences has programs ranging from one to four years that allow guests to join at any time in any port as it circles the globe.
The ship, which began its ‘Continual World Cruise’ journey last month invites travellers to discover more than 425 ports in over 140 countries across all seven continents as it circumnavigates the globe every three and a half years over the course of the next 15 years.
Conveniently, the ship, which was expected to launch in May, ultimately set sail just before the US election, just in time to allow Americans of either political persuasion to escape life under an administration they didn’t vote for.
“We came up with this marketing campaign before we even knew who would win,” company CEO Mikael Petterson told Newsweek. “Regardless of who would have won, you would have half of the population upset. Quite frankly, we don’t have a political view one way or the other. We just wanted to give people who feel threatened to have a way to get out.”

Villa Vie “residents” can choose to own, rent or lease for life through the Endless Horizons Program, with the onboard experience featuring “the comforts of home, along with amenities most discerning travellers expect, creating a harmonious blend of convenience and wanderlust fulfillment.”
Endless Horizons complements Villa Vie’s traditional ownership and rental programs offers and includes:
- 1-Year ‘Escape from Reality’
- 2-Year ‘Mid-Term Selection’
- 3-Year ‘Everywhere but Home’
- 4-Year ‘Skip Forward’
The Villa Vie Odyssey, which is home to up to 600 residents, will be spending a month in the Caribbean before embarking on a four-month South American journey featuring two Panama Canal transits, two World Wonders, the Chilean Fjords, an Antarctic sail-by, Carnival in Rio and an eight-day endeavor deep into the Amazon River.
“Villa Vie offers a unique one-of-a-kind way see the whole world at a slow pace where you have enough time to actually experience the cultural vibe of every port.” said Anne Alms, Head of Sales for Villa Vie Residences. “Your villa is your bedroom, and the ship is your home, she’ll take you across the globe to endless horizons.”
Moreover, it’s a floating home with “ever-changing backyards” – where the new/old US president isn’t looking over the fence.
