In an exercise of fleet optimization, Seabourn has sold Seabourn Odyssey to a Japanese transport company, though the luxury cruise line says it will continue to operate all published voyages through Aug. 22, 2024, under a charter arrangement.
When the charter concludes, the Odyssey will be delivered to Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd., which is the fourth largest containership company it the world. Future plans for the vessel have not been disclosed.
“We are proud that Seabourn Odyssey carried our guests across the world for the last 14 years and are happy to see her join a great company, MOL,” said Seabourn President Natalya Leahy. “As we prepare to say farewell to Odyssey in September 2024, I am excited to further optimize our fleet as we grow our expedition business.”
Leahy points to the upcoming addition of Seabourn Pursuit this summer as a contributing to Seabourn having one of the most modern fleets in the ultra-luxury segment with an average age of just seven years.
Even with the ship shuffle, Seabourn says it will have a higher guest capacity compared to 2019.
Seabourn, a Carnival Corp. brand, launched Seabourn Venture in 2022 and will welcome Seabourn Pursuit later this year.
