WHY TRAVEL ADVISORS SHOULD BE CTC/CTMS

ACTA is encouraging travel advisors to earn Certified Travel Counselor (CTC) or Certified Travel Manager (CTM) status and is offering a 30% discount off registration fees this fall to help them do so. The CTC and CTM certifications are the only designations recognized nationwide in Canada.

Certification is the mark of excellence, as it recognizes an individual’s competence in their occupation and provides a marketable credential to use, says ACTA, which adds that across Canada, over 30,000 individuals have chosen a career as a travel counsellor and those who earn a CTC or CTM status stand out as being amongst the highest qualified.

Why get certified?

  • Gain recognition as a leader in the Canadian travel industry
  • Propel your career with enhanced opportunities for advancement
  • Enjoy priority access and exclusive rates for Experiential Educational Experiences
  • Access special pricing for industry conferences

“This is an excellent opportunity for those advisors who are not yet certified to take advantage of considerable savings. Get certified and become a CTC/CTM to enhance your professional credentials and stand out in the industry,” says Wendy Paradis, ACTA president.

What’s new for 2025

Meanwhile, for ACTA members who are already certified, the association notes:

  • Upon renewal, advisors receive a special personalized verification link and logo by email to add to their signature line, displaying their achievement as a CTC/CTM.
  • CTC/CTM certification can now be verified online.
  • Certified members will be featured at the top of the ACTA Member Directory making it easier for consumers to find them. To see their listing, advisors can simply type in their name at acta.ca/member_directory.php
  • CTC/CTM members who are independent travel advisors appear first in the Member Directory, while travel agency employees are only listed within their agency’s entry, not individually.
