The WestJet Group has announced changes its winter schedule with an expansion of sun destinations from Abbotsford, BC, serving the Fraser Valley and a similar transition from Swoop to the mainline carrier in Hamilton, Ont., as WestJet integrates its low-cost subsidiary.
From the BC gateway, twice-weekly WestJet service to Mexico’s Puerto Vallarta will commence Dec. 5, while weekly flights to Los Cabos start a day earlier.
In addition to its sun schedule, WestJet will also provide non-stop connectivity between Abbotsford and Alberta. With frequent service to Edmonton and Calgary, operating year-round, WestJet passengers will be able to easily connections across Canada, the US, Central America, Europe, and Tokyo.
Meanwhile, in southern Ontario, WestJet noted that though its integration of Swoop has created a temporarily reduced schedule, it will launch three-times weekly service on routes to Cancun, Punta Cana, Orlando, and Tampa as of the last week of November.
Additionally, WestJet will also provide non-stop connectivity between Hamilton and Calgary, operating four times weekly.
At the same time, Sunwing (now part of WestJet) is further strengthening the region’s leisure travel opportunities with an extensive winter schedule. Together the two airlines will provide eight non-stop routes from Hamilton to sun destinations in the US, Mexico, and the Caribbean this winter including, Cayo Coco, Holguin, Varadero.
