- EUROVISON
After Switzerland’s victory at Eurovision last year with Nemo, the 69th edition will return to its birth country in May. The contest will take place in Basel’s St. Jakobshalle, a city blending culture, history, and modern architecture along the Rhine. Inspired by Switzerland’s mountains and landscapes, the stage design promises to impress. Tickets already sold out quickly, but more will be released soon. If you miss out, you can still enjoy one of the other activities such as the free Eurovision Village at Messe Basel.
- A FINE WINE
The “Oeli”: Zurich’s Historic Tavern Reopens Zurich’s oldest wine tavern has reopened, offering modern twists on local specialties. Steeped in history, it has been a favourite for generations, particularly amongst students and locals. Patrons can experience its centuries-old charm and take on the legendary “Balkenprobe” drinking game, where your name could be immortalized on the walls.
- FOOD, GLORIOUS FOOD
FOOD ZURICH is one of Europe’s biggest food festivals, celebrating its 10th anniversary in 2025. From June 12-22, the festival will feature over 100 events across Zurich, including culinary workshops, markets, food tours, and talks. Highlights include a 3/4-mile-long table along Lake Zurich showcasing the city’s culinary diversity. With a focus on sustainability, innovation, and local products, FOOD ZURICH offers a unique opportunity to explore the future of food and enjoy diverse tasting experiences.
- A DOG’S LIFE

The expanded Barryland theme park in Martigny reopens this summer, offering visitors an enriched experience of the legendary St. Bernard dogs. Spanning nearly 1.6 hectares, the park includes interactive exhibits that showcase the dogs’ 300-year history and unique traits. The centerpiece is a paw print-shaped building where visitors can interact with the dogs, watch them being groomed, and learn about their training. It’s a must-see for dog lovers and families alike.
- THE MATTERHORN STORY
The “Matterhorn Story” is a spectacular open-air theatre production in Zerma celebrating the 150th anniversary of the first successful ascent of the Matterhorn. Set against the stunning backdrop of the mountain, the performance combines drama, music, and visuals to bring its history and the daring climbs to life. The play is performed in German and English. This unique production offers an immersive experience for visitors during the summer months.
- JUST FOR KICKS
The UEFA Women’s European Football Championship (WEURO) 2025 will be held in Switzerland from July 2 to 27. Basel’s St. Jakob-Park will host both the opening and final matches, along with three other games. Other Swiss cities, including Zurich, Geneva, Lucerne, and Bern, will also welcome top teams from across Europe for this prestigious tournament. This 14th edition of WEURO will feature 16 teams, with approximately 700,000 tickets available for fans.
- PALACE INTRIGUE
Hotel Mürren Palace, Switzerland’s oldest palace hotel, has reopened after an extensive renovation. Set against the Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau, the hotel has been completely modernized while preserving its historic 1911 façade and carefully restored ballroom. The main building now features 49 rooms and suites, with the newly added Palace Ellipse offering 14 more suites, a Body & Mind Center, and a spa. Connected underground, guests also have access to the Alpine Sports Center, including a heated pool, gym, and spa. This renovation doubles Mürren’s 4-star hotel capacity with an additional 120 beds.
- FUN WITH FLAGS

Celebrate the 90th anniversary of the Säntis cable car with a spectacular event on July 31. The world’s largest Swiss flag will be unfurled on the majestic rock face of Mount Säntis, creating a breathtaking sight. To mark the milestone, special ticket prices will be offered for a ride to the highest peak in Eastern Switzerland, where guests can savour a traditional Swiss specialty buffet with panoramic views. On Aug. 1, Switzerland’s National Day, the giant flag will remain on the mountain.

Halifax will be served non-stop from Zurich on Thursdays and Sundays from July to early October, while non-stop flights from Zurich to Seattle will operate on Mondays and Saturdays from June to September.
