SPEEDY CRUISE INTERNET REACHES FAR CORNERS OF THE WORLD

Staying connected on expeditions to remote locales or even on a leisurely sail in the Caribbean is becoming easier this year as cruise lines swap their old satellite equipment for the speedier Starlink system.

Starlink will be rolling out on ships in many fleets and initial reviews have been raves. In just the first four weeks installed on Holland America Lines’ Koningsdam, the feedback has been very positive, said Kathleen Erickson, HAL’s vice-president of technology. “We’re hearing from guests that emails and social media are performing well, and team members tell us that internet calls home to loved ones are much stronger. That’s a connection that means a lot.”
