The Belize Tourism Board (BTB) together with partners from the Belize Hotel Association, Best Western Plus Belize Biltmore Plaza and Darah Travel, recently completed a successful Canada Roadshow across Toronto, Montreal and Calgary from Sept. 9 to 11, engaging with hundreds of Canadian travel industry professionals ahead of the busy fall and winter travel season.
Designed to strengthen relationships within the Canadian market and spotlight Belize’s latest tourism developments, the roadshow showcased the destination’s diverse experiences, hotel growth and enhanced air connectivity for Canadian travellers.
With new access through Winnipeg and expanded airlift from Calgary, Montreal and Toronto, Belize is more accessible than ever, further strengthening its position as a leading warm-weather destination for Canadians seeking adventure, culture and natural beauty.
The roadshow comes at a notable time for the destination as Belize celebrates its 45th year of Independence. To mark this milestone, the destination is currently running the ‘Belize at 45’ promotional campaign, offering travellers up to 45% off accommodation rates at participating properties. The special offer is available during the booking period from September through Oct. 31, with travel valid through Nov. 15.
“Canada remains one of Belize’s most important international markets, and the opportunity to connect directly with travel advisors, tour operators and industry partners is invaluable,” said Gale Malic-Ozaeta, Marketing and Communications Manager at the Belize Tourism Board. “Through this roadshow, we were able to share what’s new in the destination, reinforce the ease of access from Canada and equip partners with the tools and knowledge needed to confidently sell Belize in Canada.”
The delegation began the week in Toronto, participating as exhibitors at the ACTA Toronto Travel Industry Trade Show, where representatives engaged with leading travel advisors from across Ontario and took part in educational sessions focused on emerging travel trends and destination opportunities.
Belize also joined the inaugural Central America Tourism Agency (CATA) Roadshow in Canada, bringing together tourism boards and industry partners from across Central America. The Toronto event took place on Sept. 9, followed by a second reception in Montreal the next day.
The roadshow concluded in Calgary on Sept. 11 with the Belize Calgary Connect Happy Hour Reception. Attendees received an in-depth destination presentation showcasing what makes Belize unique, from its rich cultural heritage and immersive adventures to its strong commitment to sustainable tourism.
Belize representatives also highlighted the destination’s growing accessibility from Canada and shared updates on accommodations, attractions and travel experiences available throughout the country.
Canada continues to be a key focus market for Belize, with ongoing efforts aimed at increasing awareness of the destination while ensuring it remains accessible to Canadian travellers. Earlier this summer, Belize and WestJet announced a new seasonal nonstop service from Winnipeg to Belize, scheduled to begin in December. The new route will complement existing seasonal direct flights from Toronto via Air Canada and WestJet, Calgary via WestJet, and Montreal via Air Canada, further expanding travel options and making it easier than ever for Canadians to reach Belize.
As the only country in Central America with English as its official language, Belize offers a unique blend of accessibility, natural beauty, history and cultural richness. Home to the Belize Barrier Reef Reserve System, which includes the world-famous Great Blue Hole and the second-largest barrier reef in the world, Belize is renowned for its exceptional marine experiences.
Visitors can also explore the world’s first jaguar sanctuary at the Cockscomb Basin Wildlife Sanctuary, discover awe-inspiring ancient Maya sites, and immerse themselves in a vibrant mix of cultures, cuisines, festivals and traditions celebrated year-round. From rainforest adventures and island escapes to culinary discoveries and cultural connections, Belize offers diverse experiences for every type of traveller.
