NEWS

With hopes of a light at the end of the tunnel for the nine-month-and-counting pandemic, COVID-19 vaccinations began to roll out across Canada last week, following similar endeavours in the UK, and corresponding to efforts in the US.

Ontario’s minister of tourism says the provincial government is creating a tax credit for 2021 to help reinvigorate the travel industry in the wake of COVID-19. Lisa MacLeod says that her ministry is in discussions with the finance ministry about the logistics but that it will be a 20% return on every dollar spent.

Plans for a third runway at London’s Heathrow Airport have been given a new boost after the airport’s owner won a Supreme Court challenge. The Appeal Court had blocked the project earlier, ruling that the government failed to take account of its climate commitments when it approved the expansion plans. Further environmental hurdles, however, are expected.
