PUBS & PATIOS: Ozone highly recommended in Hong Kong

Ozone gets high marks, not just for its location on the 118th floor of Hong Kong’s ICC Tower (one of the tallest in the world), but its dazzling atmosphere overlooking a dazzling city.

Reportedly the highest bar in the world at 490 metres above sea level, the venue is reached by not one but two elevators, revealing a venue with sweeping views of the horizon and the city’s famous harbour, and neon skyline at night that is a perfect match for bar, whose chic interior is bathed in a striking blue hue with brightly coloured accents and modern décor.

The semi-open terrace is less futuristic and lounge style.

A part of the Ritz-Carlton hotel, the venue not surprisingly suggests – with a straight face one presumes – that gentlemen leave their beach sandals, sleeveless shirts and shorts back in the hotel, which is all the better when sipping inventive cocktails and the abundant Dom Perignon, the latter notably served (all you can drink) at Sunday Brunch.

Anytime nibbles include small plates, sushi, maki and hot and cold tapas.

Patrons do not have to be guests at the Ritz and can drop up Thursday and Fridays from 5 till late, Saturdays 3 p.m. to 1 a.m. and Sundays noon till Midnight. (Closed Mon-Wed).
