Porter Airlines is adding another destination to its sun network with service to Providenciales (PLS), Turks and Caicos. The new non-stop flights are available from Toronto Pearson five times weekly, beginning Nov. 6, and Ottawa twice weekly, beginning Dec. 17.
Turks and Caicos is the fifth new sun destination to be added to Porter’s growing winter seasonal network, joining recently announced Aruba, San Jose (Costa Rica), Montego Bay and Los Cabos. This is in addition to existing service to Cancun, Puerto Vallarta, Nassau, Grand Cayman and Liberia.
Hamilton International Airport (YHM) is also gaining a new route to Tampa (TPA), Florida, with four weekly flights, beginning Dec. 18. This is the third city in Florida that Porter flies to from Hamilton, joining Orlando and Fort Lauderdale.
Service will be aboard state-of-the-art, 132-seat Embraer E195-E2 aircraft with no middle seats.
“Canada has become one of our most valuable tourism markets, and the addition of Porter Airlines service from both Toronto and Ottawa represents a significant investment in the future of the Turks and Caicos Islands,” said Zhavargo Jolly, Minister of Tourism, Turks and Caicos Islands.
“Over the past year, Experience Turks and Caicos has placed a strong emphasis on travel advisor training, tour operator engagement and strategic marketing and public relations initiatives across Canada. We are seeing the results of those efforts through increased awareness, stronger demand and continued growth in visitor arrivals from the market. These new flights provide additional opportunities to build on that momentum and welcome even more Canadian visitors to our shores,” he added.
Ottawa and Deer Lake
In other news, Porter has inaugurated service between Ottawa International Airport (YOW) and Deer Lake Regional Airport (YDF) in Newfoundland, becoming the only airline to connect the two destinations with non-stop flights. The seasonal route features four weekly roundtrips and ends in early September.
The route complements Porter’s existing Deer Lake service from Halifax and Toronto.
