MOVING ON OUT, AND UP, AT TRAVELBRANDS

Elvi Cal, Lina Côté, and Christian Roussin

Elvi is leaving the building. TravelBrands’ beloved Elvi Cal is retiring after 38 years at the company. And joining him in a new chapter after 43 years in the business (and 23 years at the company) is the equally admired Lina Côté – both of them feted as industry leaders and having provided “exemplary service” for decades, according to the company.

Their extraordinary careers and lasting contributions have left an indelible mark on both TravelBrands and the broader travel landscape, says Nathalie Tanious, President & CEO of H.I.S. Canada Travel Inc. (parent company of TravelBrands).

“I truly believe that the success of any organization is built on the strength of its people, and today we honour two of the greatest I’ve had the privilege of working with throughout my career,” she said. “Elvi and Lina’s commitment, passion, and leadership have not only shaped who we are, but also paved the way for where we’re headed. Their legacy is woven into every success we’ve achieved, and their influence will continue to resonate long after they’ve moved on.”

Cal

Cal, currently Sr. VP, Product & Commercial, will retire from full-time duties on July 31, but will continue to support TravelBrands as an independent consultant. Having started at Alba Tours in 1987, he transitioned through changing owners Holiday House, NALG, MyTravel, and Thomas Cook, and finally, TravelBrands/H.I.S., cumulatively having spent 38 years with the same company.

“Elvi has been a cornerstone of TravelBrands, spearheading product innovation, building strategic partnerships, and leading with integrity and passion,” says TravelBrands. “His deep expertise and collaborative approach have played a pivotal role in defining TravelBrands’ success. For many, Elvi has not only been a leader but also a mentor and a trusted colleague… His continued involvement will provide invaluable insights and ensure that the strong relationships he built over the years are sustained.”

Côté

Meanwhile, TravelBrands’ Director of Sales Lina Côté will retire effective June 30, but will also continue to contribute to the company as an independent consultant.

“Lina has been an inspiration to all who have had the privilege of working with her,” opines TravelBrands. “Throughout her 43-year career in the travel industry, with nearly half of that time spent at TravelBrands, she has been a steadfast advocate for travel agents. Known for her calm demeanour and results-driven approach, Lina has earned the respect of her colleagues and peers alike. Her dedication to supporting and empowering travel agents, along with her genuine care for people and deep respect for the travel industry, have been central to her success.”

Christian Roussin

TravelBrands, which says further announcements regarding new appointments and leadership responsibilities will soon follow, has already announced the first: Christian Roussin as its new Director of Sales (Quebec) & Strategic Development, assuming the responsibilities previously held by Côté.

Roussi, a 25-year industry veteran, has over the past year served as Sr. Manager of Strategic Development, leading a variety of cross-functional initiatives across TravelBrands, working closely with key internal stakeholders and external partners.
